You know that 11 digits unique number that is on your NIN slip? that's your National Identity Number, and it's pretty damn important. Almost all government agencies now ask for these digits. Just this year, Jamb announced that it will be compulsory for candidates to have their NIN before they can register for the examination (although this was later reverse).  Jamb isn't the only one asking for this number. Banking services, payment of taxes, Land transaction, etc. all now ask for your NIN. So it is important that this number is always available when needed.

If you have forgotten your NIN and are looking for an easier and convenient way to retrieve it, then you have come to the right place. A lot of people have been searching for "How to retrieve my NIN number online". With this method, you no longer need to visit the NIMC office to get your NIN. With a simple USSD code, your NIN will be displayed to you via SMS. Plus, this will work on MTN, Airtel, 9mobile, and Glo.

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has made it a lot easier for individuals to access or display their NIN, with the introduction of the USSD for NIN Retrieval code. With this service, you can display or retrieve your NIN just by dialing a USSD code on your phone and your NIN will be displayed on your phone via SMS. This can be helpful for those who may have lost their NIN Slip and have forgotten their NIN.

How To Check Your NIN Number

If you have forgotten your NIN number, not to worry. You can retrieve your Nin with your mobile phone via SMS. To display your NIN on Your Phone,

  • Make sure the SIM you used for registering for NIN is in your phone. This is important because it is the only number that would be able to display your NIN.
  • Ensure that you have at least N20 on your phone.
  • Now dial *346#. you will get a message that reads " Welcome to NIMC USSD Service. This service will cost you N20"
  • Now Press 1 to retrieve your NIN. Immediately after pressing 1 your NIN will be displayed on your screen, and a service fee of N20 will be deducted from your account balance.

The NIN USSD code will work across all major telecom companies like MTN, Airtel, 9mobile, and Glo. But remember, you must use the same SIM you provided during registration of Your National Identity card.
