Sometimes you might find yourself in a difficult situation where you might not be able to buy airtime. This might be due to your location, and at other times you might just be low on cash. The good news is that it is Possible to borrow Airtime from your Airtel SIM and payback later.

This service is known as Airtel Extra Credit, and it was created specifically for Emergency situations.

Code To Borrow Airtime On Airtel

To borrow credit on Airtel, simply dial *500#. This code will show a list of airtime amount you are eligible to borrow. To be more specific, you can also dial *500*amount#. where amount is the volume of Airtime you wish to borrow. for instance, if I want to borrow N100 worth of credit, I will dial *500*100#.

All borrowed Airtime comes with a service charge or fee of 15% of the amount borrowed. for example, if you borrow N100, you will be charged  N15. which means you will be paying N115 in total. The only exception to the 15% fee is when you borrow N25 which will attract a service fee of 20%.  This fee is usually deducted when you get the borrowed credit, so if you borrow N100. You will actually get N85. because of the charge and the remaining N100 will be deducted from your next recharge.

Requirement to Borrow Credit on Airtel

To be eligible to borrow Airtime on airtel, you must have been on the Airtel network for At least 2 months, and must also have recharge or spend at least N200 every month. Also, if you have any outstanding debt, it must be paid back first, before you can be eligible to request another loan or airtime.

How To Repay Borrowed Credit on Airtel

To repay your borrowed Credit on Airtel, all you need do is to recharge your line and the appropriate amount you owe will be deducted from you credit balance. If the Airtime recharged is not up to your debt (e.g you borrowed N200 but recharge N100) then the remaining loan balance will be deducted from your next recharge.
